L.A. Bronze combines high-quality musicianship with a varied repertoire of selections for concert performance. As a semi-professional ensemble, we rehearse twice a month, the first and third Sunday afternoons, with rehearsal locations in Glendale and Long Beach, ensuring that ringers share in the joy of commuting through LA County.

We are proud to perform with the Pasadena Symphony in their Holiday Candlelight Concert each December as well as a concert series in the spring. If you love handbells and wish to be a part of an ensemble that prides itself on strong musicianship and growing the reach of the instrument in the LA Metropolitan Area, consider joining us!

L.A. Bronze will host auditions for open spots on August 3, 2024, at 10:00 am at our Long Beach rehearsal location. Prospective Auditionees should be comfortable with the following:

  • Using independent practice time so ensemble rehearsal time can focus on the ensemble.

  • Have significant experience with the instrument and the usual special techniques required (malleting, martellato, plucking, etc.)

  • The time and means to commit to our limited rehearsal schedule, ensuring that all members are present at all rehearsals.

The audition process is as follows:

1.  Complete the application:  LA Bronze Audition Questionnaire

2. Applications will be considered as they are received. If your application meets the standards we are looking for, our Artistic Director and Board of Directors President will contact you for a Zoom interview before the in-person audition on August 3.

3.  Four weeks before the audition, you will receive audition music and a position assignment based on the information you share with us in your application.  Two pieces will be sent to you to learn, and one piece will be sight-read at the audition.

4.  For the purposes of selecting the auditionees most appropriate for the ensemble, we will record the audition process. NONE of the audition video will be seen by anyone other than the selection panel.

Auditionees will be advised within one week of the audition. Music and assignments are passed out at first rehearsal (which will be on September 8).
